Grön is North Cyprus’s first and only fully vegan restaurant. Located in the Bandabulya Municipal Market in old town Lefkosa, Grön has already made a reputation for itself and people come from all over the island to have lunch here. The restaurant is run by Nazar and Fezel, two women that have spent many years learning about the vegan cuisine and perfecting their cooking skills. All the food served here is cooked from scratch by them and according to the reputation it is finger licking delicious! Every day offers *Today’s Lunch* and it consists of four to five different dishes served on a large plate. There are also dishes that can be ordered every day, such as vegan burgers, salad bowls, soups and veg-macun (a vegan version of the Turkish pizza lahmacun). The restaurant is very cosy and inviting but for those in a hurry there is always take-away available and even catering services. Catering can be used for birthdays, meetings or such, where you are offered snacks, finger foods and vegan, gluten free cakes. For those wanting to take some vegan goodies home there are many products for sale by brands Veggie and Soyfleks. Organic, vegan wine is also available by Italian brand Sontino. Grön uses only eco-friendly, biodegradable materials. The cutlery and glasses used are 100% compostable, made from plant based sources. The fork is for example made from avocado seeds! The name Grön comes from the Swedish word meaning Green, and that is exactly what they stand for; green, healthy and organic food that is sustainable and environmentally friendly.
